First, We want to welcome our new and rejoining members!

The Alabama Lawyers Association Annual Meeting & Retreat registration is now open online. The Annual meeting and Retreat will be held May 29th – June 1st at the beautiful Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in Sandestin, Florida. The regular deadline to register without incurring a late fee is April 29th. The deadline to receive the ALA housing accommodation rate is April 29th. We ask that you request your firm/colleagues/family/friends to be a BIG sponsor of the Alabama Lawyers Association Annual Meeting & Retreat. Visit the ALA website at www.ala-lawyers.org to download a copy of the ALA 2014 Sponsorship/Advertiser/Exhibitor package. Monies and ads are due by April 25, 2014.

If you have not joined or renewed your membership, we encourage you to do so today. You may download a copy of the membership application from the ALA website or you may join online. Remind your colleagues and law students that they can join and/or renew their ALA membership and register for the Annual Meeting & Retreat conference online.

Upcoming Events:
Minority Pre-Law Conference Series-Huntsville
April 4
Sponsored by: ALA & Young Lawyers Section of the Alabama State Bar

This event allows minority high school students to obtain valuable information about pursing a legal career. Students receive information regarding the requirements for gaining admission to law school, listen to panel discussions on the various careers available to persons with a juris doctorate, watch a mock trial and deliberate on the verdict, get advice from attorneys in a small group session and network with students who have similar ambitions.

The event will be held on April 4 in Huntsville, on April 9 in Montgomery and on April 17 in Birmingham. You can help with this event by volunteering your time to either serve on a panel to discuss your daily life as an attorney, participating in the mock trial program, or talking with students during small group sessions.

Please contact Marcus Maples at mmaples@sirote.com to volunteer.
